The Cosmic Rabbit

“Hallo, Rabbit,” he said, “is that you?” "Let’s pretend it isn’t,” said Rabbit, “and see what happens.” ― A.A. Milne

Staying on my own to chill.

I was staying in my own cottage on a farm to just chill. www.riverviewcottages.com I'd stayed there before and I'd come to know Colin and Bronwyn who own and run the place.

I drove the Polaris on the dirt tracks and all over to get used to it. What a fun toy, but also a serious workhorse and the best utility vehicle money can buy. I still wasn't sure why I bought one but I was following Lindi Te Water's advice. Don't question, just allow and let things happen. It was after a day or 2 on the farm that I decided to ask Colin and Bronwyn if I could set off an explosion on their farm. All hell broke loose with Bronwyn saying in a panic that they were expecting German tourists who'd be flying in from overseas who needed peace and quiet and first the Polaris, now an explosion ? "No way not on our farm" she said firmly. After consulting with Derek it was decided I should move away so I packed immediately and left with my Polaris and explosives in tow.

Derek had warned me that I could be jailed for arson if I set the Karoo alight and that someone had let off firecrackers and ten ostriches had flung themselves onto the fence, five of those dying from fright and the remaining 5 suffering terribly from their wounds and eventually also dropping dead in agony.

I heeded Derek's warning and thought I'd be very careful when letting off an explosion.

I arrived at Brett's that evening and he said "Sure, light crackers wherever you want" but with Derek's warning of being jailed as an arsonist I could see too many bits of veld that could catch alight so I temporarily gave up on the idea.
